The chairman of the board of directors of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, retired Ambassador Khaled Al-Mughams, emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination among Gulf national societies and exchanging expertise and experiences to contribute to the development of humanitarian work and enhance the efficiency of responses to humanitarian needs and challenges.

This came in a statement by Al-Mughams to KUNA following his visit to the headquarters of the Qatar Red Crescent Society in the capital, Doha, and his meeting with Mohammed Al-Bashiri, Assistant Secretary-General for the Communications and Resource Development Sector at the Qatar Red Crescent Society. The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise in several areas of mutual interest.

Al-Mughams said that the relationship between the Kuwait Red Crescent Society and its Qatari counterpart is built on a long history of joint cooperation and coordination, stressing the commitment to developing this relationship and leveraging the expertise and experiences of both sides to serve shared humanitarian objectives.

He clarified that the meeting addressed several topics related to humanitarian work, particularly in the fields of communications, humanitarian media, and resource development, as well as the exchange of expertise and practices that contribute to improving institutional performance and strengthening the capacity of national societies to convey their humanitarian message and expand the impact of their programs and projects.

Al-Mughams added that the current stage, marked by increasing humanitarian crises and challenges in the region and worldwide, requires greater coordination and integration of efforts among Gulf Red Crescent societies, commending the role played by the Qatar Red Crescent Society and its humanitarian and relief efforts.

He noted that the Kuwait Red Crescent Society is keen to expand cooperation with its counterparts in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and exchange successful experiences and practices, thereby enhancing joint Gulf humanitarian work and contributing to reaching the most vulnerable groups efficiently and effectively.
