Minister of Public Works: Enhancing readiness to ensure rapid response to rainwater accumulation

Public Works Minister Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan affirmed on Thursday the importance of enhancing readiness, follow-up, and coordination among relevant authorities to ensure swift handling of rainwater accumulations and emergency situations.
During a meeting she chaired on the impacts of rain and flash floods, attended by committee members and representatives of concerned entities to review their preparedness for the rainy season, Minister Al-Mashaan stressed the necessity of continued coordination among these authorities and rapid response to any developments during rainy conditions.
The meeting reviewed the preparations and action plans of participating entities for the rainy season, alongside the readiness of field teams, equipment, and machinery at various sites.
It also examined climate forecasts for the coming period, which indicate that rainfall amounts expected in October, November, and December may exceed normal rates, necessitating heightened preparedness among relevant authorities.
Dr. Al-Mashaan inspected efforts to clean rainwater drainage inlets and networks, as well as the readiness of pumping stations and the procedures in place to address sites prone to water accumulation.
The meeting discussed the roles of participating entities, their coordination mechanisms, emergency plans, and procedures for managing the impacts of rain and flash floods.
