The Research Sector at Kuwait University organized a workshop titled “Creating a Qualitative Leap in Scientific Publishing: The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Developing Research, Writing, and Publishing,” delivered by Dr. Fawaz Al-Azmi from the Department of Computer Science at the College of Science, with participation from several university staff members. The workshop covered the practical use of artificial intelligence in research and scientific publishing, aiming to enhance productivity, improve writing quality, and prepare for publication while adhering to academic integrity and responsible AI use. Dr. Al-Azmi introduced participants to the new Gemini Enterprise platform at Kuwait University and demonstrated applications using NotebookLM and Elicit for organizing sources, reviewing literature, summarizing studies, identifying research gaps, and extracting data. He also outlined ways to leverage these tools to develop ideas, enhance academic writing, prepare manuscripts and abstracts, draft cover letters, select appropriate journals, and respond to reviewers’ comments. The workshop included hands-on training in crafting effective prompts, verifying the accuracy of outputs and references, and building simple AI agents to carry out specific research tasks. In conclusion, Dr. Mubarak Al-Dosari, Assistant to the Vice President for External Research Collaboration and Consulting, honored the presenter, thanking him for his efforts in delivering the workshop.
