Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal: Gulf Cup is the first step, and the future is brighter for the Saudi national team
Crown Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Sport, congratulated the Saudi leadership on the Saudi national team’s crowning as champions of Gulf Cup 27, emphasizing that ambitions extend beyond this Gulf achievement toward further successes on the international stage, and that this title represents just the first step on a long journey.
Speaking after the triumph, the Minister of Sport said: “I extend my congratulations and best wishes to His Majesty the King, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, and to Saudi Arabia, on winning this trophy. I know that our ambitions are great, and that we aspire to go far in football on the international stage. God willing, this will be the first step toward achieving the accomplishments we all hope for, whether we are officials, fans, or those interested in sports.”
He added: “The generous support we receive from the Crown Prince deserves this achievement. I congratulate the players, who delivered an outstanding tournament, showing loyalty in their work and contributions both on the pitch and in training. The focus was intense, and participation came from everyone—the technical staff, the coach, and the Saudi Football Federation—all working as one team to achieve this milestone.”
Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki also highlighted the efforts made in recent months to develop the national team system, saying: “Praise be to God, we are beginning to see movement. The coach has tried all the players who participated in the tournament, and I believe the door remains open for the future. Any player who wishes to join the national team must strive and work hard.”
Regarding upcoming challenges, he said: “The Asian Cup remains ahead of us, and it will be a significant challenge. However, my confidence in the players and everyone involved is strong that we will continue with this dedication and effort, and achieve what our noble leadership and the Saudi public aspire to.”
