Druze Unitarian Community Religious Council: Attacks on the South Are an Aggression Against All of Lebanon

The Board of Directors of the Druze Monotheist Council issued a statement following its regular meeting at the Druze Community House in Fardan, chaired by Sheikh al-Aql, Council Chairman Sheikh Dr. Sami Abu Al-Muna. The statement declared that “the continuous aggression and systematic attempts at demographic engineering targeting the South constitute an aggression against all of Lebanon and its regions.”

The Council called for “the state to stand, with all its capabilities, alongside our steadfast people in the South to support their resolve to remain on their land and in their villages, and to ensure all the foundations and necessities that guarantee and reinforce this steadfastness.” The Council also expressed hope for the renewal of the mandate of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) operating in the South, citing its necessary international presence and its role in protecting civilians and documenting Israeli violations.

The Council emphasized that “the absolute national priority at this critical juncture is to firmly establish a permanent ceasefire, enforce a complete Israeli withdrawal, and strengthen the presence of state institutions in the South.” It further stated that “the current circumstances do not permit the reopening of contentious internal files.”
