Saudi Cabinet Reaffirms Support for the Yemeni Leadership Council to End the Coup: Houthi Militia Chose Escalation Over Peace

His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the Council of Ministers meeting held in Riyadh yesterday. The Council reaffirmed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s full support for the Presidential Leadership Council, the legitimate government, and the brotherly Yemeni people, in their efforts to end the coup in the country and restore the state and its institutions from the terrorist Houthi militia, which has chosen military escalation as an alternative to peace.

In a related development, Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, the official spokesperson for the Coalition Forces (the Coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen), announced yesterday that a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia toward Khamis Mushait was intercepted and destroyed. Earlier, the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation confirmed that King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Jazan and Najran International Airport were targeted in two attacks on the evening of the day before yesterday. The Authority stated that the attacks resulted in three minor injuries and material damage, with the injured being transported to hospitals to receive necessary medical care.

For their part, Arab and international countries, institutions, and organizations condemned the continued attacks by the terrorist Houthi militias on civilian targets, holy sites, and civilians in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, amid calls for the international community to take action and hold the perpetrators accountable.

Jassem Al-Bedawi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), strongly condemned the two attacks. He emphasized that the militias’ continued targeting of civilian and vital facilities in the Kingdom reflects a clear disregard for international law and international humanitarian law, stressing the necessity for the international community to adopt a firm stance against these attacks and hold the perpetrators accountable.

In this context, the European Union condemned the attacks. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, stated that they contribute to destabilizing the region, fueling violence, and undermining global energy security.
