Abdulkarim Al-Abdullah: The Ministry of Health announced that Al-Jahra Hospital has begun providing intravenous antibiotic treatment through its outpatient clinics, as part of efforts to develop health services and enhance the quality of care provided to patients.
In a press statement, the Ministry of Health said the service aims to enable patients whose conditions require intravenous antibiotics to complete their treatment in outpatient clinics, in accordance with specific medical standards and treatment plans that ensure continuous follow-up and patient safety, while reducing the need for hospitalization whenever their health condition permits.
According to the statement, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Shamri, Head of the Medical Board at Al-Jahra Hospital, said the program represents a step forward in developing the healthcare delivery model by providing appropriate treatment to patients in the right place and at the right time, optimizing the use of hospital resources, and enhancing the efficiency of health services provided.
Al-Shamri expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the team members who contributed to the preparation and planning for the launch of the program, as well as to the supporting departments and units, commending their efforts, cooperation, and commitment to ensuring the program’s success and achieving its objectives.
The launch of the program comes in implementation of Ministerial Decision No. (140) of 2026 concerning the establishment and implementation of an intravenous antimicrobial therapy program for patients, which aims to standardize the program’s implementation across hospitals in accordance with recognized best medical practices, thereby supporting the quality of healthcare and achieving optimal treatment outcomes for patients.
