Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) celebrated its 50th anniversary in a ceremony held at its headquarters, attended by senior officials, staff members, and guests, commemorating a half-century of dedication, excellence, and achievements in media work.
In his address during the celebration, Acting Director General of KUNA Mohammed Al-Munaee stated that the agency has witnessed and engaged with the most significant local, Arab, and global events over the past five decades, achieving a series of accomplishments in media precedence locally, regionally, and internationally, alongside receiving numerous prestigious awards and honors.
Al-Munaee added that this distinction was not a product of chance but rather the result of adhering to a media equation that combines speed in news dissemination with accuracy, objectivity, and credibility in reporting, thereby solidifying the agency’s presence and standing in the media landscape.
He noted that throughout its history, KUNA has served as a vibrant mirror covering local events and broadcasting news from government entities, public benefit associations, and the private sector within Kuwait and abroad, thereby reinforcing its role as an official and reliable platform for news content.
He clarified that the agency has strived to be a vigilant eye for truth and a trusted forum conveying Kuwait’s pulse and fair voice to various parts of the world, keeping pace with the stages of state-building and comprehensive development, and advocating for its just causes under wise leadership.
Al-Munaee emphasized that the agency’s continued excellence and its pioneering position locally and regionally would not have been possible without the dedication, relentless efforts, and substantial contributions of its staff over the past years.
He pointed out that this occasion marked an intellectual and documentary achievement with the publication of two books: “Kuwait in the Memory of Days,” which highlights historical milestones and firm positions on the land of goodness and giving, and “KUNA: 50 Years of Pioneering and Credibility,” which summarizes the institution’s journey and development. Additionally, a documentary film showcasing KUNA’s most prominent achievements and key milestones over five decades was screened during the ceremony.
Al-Munaee expressed his confidence that the efforts and tireless contributions of the agency’s staff will continue as they stand on the threshold of the Golden Jubilee, looking forward to a promising media future that achieves the agency’s ambitious goals and upholds Kuwait’s flag under the leadership of His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince.
Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) has published a new book titled “Kuwait News Agency: 50 Years of Leadership and Credibility,” which chronicles the agency’s journey and development over the past five decades. The documentary volume, compiled by colleagues Amina Al-Shammari, Sara Al-Makhzoum, Shaima Al-Ruwais, Reem Al-Darawji, and Abdullah Badran from the agency’s Information Center, traces KUNA’s five-decade history, highlighting its landmark historical and professional milestones, its engagement with major local, Arab, and global events, its numerous achievements in securing media scoops locally, regionally, and internationally, and the prestigious awards it has received.
KUNA has also released another new book, titled “Kuwait in the Memory of Days,” which presents a precise chronological account of the events and occasions that have taken place in the country across all fields, as well as biographies of its rulers and notable figures who contributed over the past decades to its progress and development.
The release of the two books coincides with the agency’s celebration today of the golden jubilee of its establishment, following the issuance of a decree-law by the late Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Salim Al-Sabah (may God have mercy on him), Decree-Law No. 70 of 1976, dated October 6, 1976, which established a public institution with legal personality under the name Kuwait News Agency.
The second book, compiled by colleagues Abtehal Al-Muzaini, Mansour Al-Barak, Niran Al-Nassar, Khaled Al-Baloushi, and Abdullah Badran, documents Kuwait’s events from its inception to the present day, day by month and year, offering current and future generations an enduring record from which they can draw lessons and insights, thereby strengthening values of belonging and loyalty to continue the path of development, construction, and prosperity.
