The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the brazen and disgraceful continued attacks by the Houthi militia on the holy cities of Mecca and Medina in the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In a statement, the Ministry said that these attacks constitute a provocation to the feelings of Muslims worldwide, a serious escalation in the violation of the sanctity of Islamic holy sites, as well as attacks against the capital, Riyadh, and several other cities in the Kingdom. It also highlighted attacks on civilians, civilian and economic assets, and ships in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, which threaten regional security and the safety of maritime navigation.

The Ministry reaffirmed Kuwait’s unequivocal rejection of the recurrence of these hostile and cowardly acts, which represent a blatant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and a flagrant breach of international law and international humanitarian law.

It renewed Kuwait’s support for the legitimate Yemeni government, as well as for the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the sister Republic of Yemen. In this regard, it commended the earnest efforts of the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since 2014 to support initiatives aimed at achieving a comprehensive and sustainable political settlement in Yemen in accordance with the three reference points, and its leadership of the coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen.

The Ministry called on the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities and implement its relevant resolutions, particularly Resolutions 2216 and 2817.

It renewed Kuwait’s absolute solidarity with the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its steadfast support alongside the Kingdom, and its backing of all measures taken to safeguard the Kingdom’s sovereignty and security and to protect its citizens and residents on its territory. It emphasized that the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of the security of the State of Kuwait and the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
