The Ministry of Interior announced that the General Directorate of Traffic, represented by the Security Control Department, succeeded in apprehending suspects in two separate incidents in the Jahra region for riding bicycles in non-designated areas, thereby endangering their own safety and that of other road users.
In a press statement, the Ministry clarified that in the first incident, a patrol officer observed the first suspect riding a bicycle recklessly in an area not designated for such activity. Upon being stopped, the suspect attempted to flee, collided with the patrol vehicle, and was subsequently apprehended.
It added that in the second incident, another patrol observed the second suspect riding a bicycle recklessly in a non-designated area, leading to his apprehension.
The statement noted that traffic violations for riding bicycles in non-designated areas, reckless driving, and endangering public safety were issued against the suspects, along with a violation for failing to comply with stop orders and fleeing, which was applied to the first suspect. The first suspect was referred to the Central Prison, while the second suspect was referred to the Juvenile Protection Department, as he is a minor, and both bicycles were confiscated.
Furthermore, the General Directorate of Traffic warned bicycle riders against endangering their own safety and that of other road users, emphasizing that such behaviors and failure to comply with police orders will be met with strict enforcement of the law.
