Mohammed Yaqoub Al-Omar, Director of the Consular Affairs Department at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced yesterday the launch of the “Extraction of Criminal Record Summary Certificate” service for Syrians abroad through Syrian diplomatic and consular missions.

In a statement to the Sana news agency, Al-Omar noted that this service is being implemented in cooperation with the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Interior, as part of ongoing efforts to streamline procedures and enhance consular services.

The service is now available for registration via the MOFA SY app at 13 missions located in Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha, Dubai, Muscat, Beirut, Tripoli, Berlin, Bonn, Brussels, Athens, Rome, and Vienna.

According to Al-Omar, this initiative aims to save time and effort for Syrians abroad by facilitating access to the criminal record summary certificate without the need for lengthy procedures. Work continues to expand the service and activate it progressively at other Syrian missions worldwide.

Last July, Al-Omar announced the activation of a service for registering births and deaths at several Syrian diplomatic and consular missions abroad, including Athens, Berlin, Bonn, Brussels, Rome, Vienna, Prague, and Geneva. This allows such events to be recorded in civil registries within a period not exceeding 72 hours.
