Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the meeting of the Council of Ministers held in Riyadh. The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that the Crown Prince briefed the Council of Ministers on the substance of his meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, during which they reviewed the prospects and areas of cooperation between the two brotherly countries, as well as discussed recent developments in the region.
In a statement, the Council affirmed, following its review of regional developments, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s full support for the Presidential Leadership Council, the legitimate government, and the brotherly Yemeni people, in order to end the coup in this beloved country and restore the state and its institutions from the terrorist Houthi militia, which has chosen military escalation as an alternative to peace, deepened the humanitarian and economic suffering of Yemen and its brotherly people, and continued to threaten the region and navigation in the southern Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
The Council also appreciated the outcomes of the emergency meeting of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee of the Mecca Defense Pact, which emphasized solidarity among the three member states and their united front in confronting the malicious attacks on the Kingdom that targeted Mecca, Medina, civilian assets, and civilian and economic facilities. The meeting resulted in an agreement to activate collective deterrence and move immediately to the practical implementation of mutual defense commitments, thereby enhancing readiness, military integration, and the capacity to counter such threats.
In a separate development, the Council of Ministers highly appreciated the contents of the annual royal address delivered by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at the opening of the third year of the ninth term of the Shura Council, which encapsulated the state’s entrenched constants and principles, highlighted the key achievements of “Saudi Vision 2030,” and underscored the gains of developmental reforms and economic momentum, as well as the pillars of foreign policy and the Kingdom’s steadfast positions, which have had a tangible impact on enhancing the standing of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its active role regionally and internationally.
