The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the brazen and shameful ongoing attacks by the Houthi militia on the holy cities of Mecca and Medina in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which constitute a provocation to the sentiments of Muslims worldwide and represent a serious escalation in the violation of the sanctity of Islamic holy sites. It also condemned attacks against the capital, Riyadh, and several other cities in the Kingdom, as well as attacks targeting civilians, civilian and economic infrastructure, and ships in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, actions that threaten regional security and the safety of maritime navigation.
The Ministry reaffirmed Kuwait’s unequivocal rejection of the recurrence of these cowardly hostile acts, which amount to a blatant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and a flagrant breach of international law and international humanitarian law.
While reiterating Kuwait’s support for the legitimate Yemeni government, as well as the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the sisterly Republic of Yemen, the Ministry commended the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s sustained efforts since 2014 to support initiatives aimed at achieving a comprehensive and sustainable political settlement in Yemen, in accordance with the three reference points, and its leadership of the coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen. It also called on the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities and implement its relevant resolutions, particularly Resolutions 2216 and 2817.
Furthermore, the Ministry reaffirmed Kuwait’s absolute solidarity with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its steadfast support alongside the Kingdom, and its backing of all measures undertaken to safeguard the Kingdom’s sovereignty and security, as well as to protect its citizens and residents on its territory. It emphasized that the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of the security of Kuwait and the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.
