Kuwait University and Ministry of Health Organize Awareness Program on Radiation Protection and Safety

Kuwait University, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, represented by the Radiation Protection Department, organized an awareness program titled “Radiation Protection and Safety 2026,” aimed at enhancing awareness of radiation principles, its applications, and safe handling methods in accordance with safety and prevention standards. The event was attended by the Acting Secretary-General of the University, Dr. Noura Al-Suwaihi, and several senior officials from both institutions.

Speaking at the opening of the program, which runs until the 7th of the current month at the Sabah Al-Salem University City, Dr. Saud Al-Anzi, Acting Head of the Nuclear Medicine Department and Secretary of the Nuclear and Radiation Control Committee at the College of Medicine, Kuwait University, stated that the program aims to strengthen knowledge about radiation, its applications, and ways to use it safely.

Dr. Al-Anzi clarified that radiation is a natural part of the environment and daily life, with wide-ranging applications that have contributed to serving humanity and advancing various fields, particularly medicine and scientific research. He commended the university administration’s support for organizing the program and its cooperation with the Ministry of Health and the Radiation Protection Department.

The program featured a distinguished group of professors, physicians, academics, and specialists in radiation and nuclear medicine, who delivered a series of scientific and awareness lectures covering the fundamentals of radiation and its latest applications in medical, scientific, and research fields, alongside an overview of best practices and standards related to radiation protection and prevention.
