Spanish Prime Minister Calls for Early Elections on November 29

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced on Monday that he will call for early legislative elections on November 29, following the parliament’s rejection on Friday of measures proposed by his government in an attempt to resolve the housing crisis.

In a speech delivered at the Moncloa Palace, the socialist prime minister said, “To carry out the deep reforms we need… we must mobilize our energies… and secure a much larger, progressive majority that will enable us to break the hold of the elites, win new social gains, and continue transforming Spain.”
