Cairo – Ahmed Saber: Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, held a meeting yesterday to follow up on efforts to provide agricultural fertilizers and the latest developments in steps to govern the system of their distribution to farmers. The meeting was attended by Ahmed Kojok, Minister of Finance; Alaa Eldin Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation; Eng. Khaled Hashem, Minister of Industry; and officials from several relevant entities.

The Prime Minister opened the meeting by emphasizing the state’s continued attention to the agricultural sector, pointing out in this regard the ongoing directives of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to support farmers through the implementation of a comprehensive vision that maximizes the resources and capabilities available in this important sector. This aims to contribute to expanding the agricultural area and diversifying crops, particularly strategic ones, thereby strengthening food security dimensions and meeting various local needs for different crops, as well as fostering growth in exports from this promising sector.

The Prime Minister highlighted the government’s continuous commitment to providing and making available the various requirements for agricultural production processes, including efforts to ensure the supply of necessary agricultural fertilizers. This contributes to increasing the production volume of various crops and achieving additional social and economic targets for both farmers and the state.

The meeting discussed the measures and steps being taken in cooperation and coordination with various relevant entities to implement further actions that ensure the governance of the agricultural fertilizer distribution system. The goal is to ensure that subsidized fertilizers reach the entitled farmers and to prevent the diversion of support intended for this purpose to unauthorized parties.

The meeting also reviewed efforts to provide fertilizers to farmers through agricultural cooperatives spread across the country, along with measures being implemented to further govern the distribution and dispensing system of these fertilizers to entitled farmers, in order to achieve higher standards of transparency and efficiency.
