The Kuwait College of Science and Technology (KCST) signed a memorandum of understanding with Granada College for People with Disabilities, under the auspices of the Kuwait Association for the Care of People with Disabilities, aiming to enhance academic, technical, and professional cooperation, and to exchange expertise and knowledge in the fields of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
Professor Khaled Al-Baqain, President of KCST, welcomed the delegation from Granada College, which included College Director Maryam Al-Bahr, Vocational Training Director Dalal Al-Muhailab, and Board Member Noura Al-Ghurair. The signing of the memorandum follows the cooperation between the two parties during the Second International Conference and Forum on Assistive Technologies for People with Disabilities, held in December 2025, and seeks to develop joint initiatives that support students and promote the integration of modern technologies in education and assistive technology.
The memorandum includes organizing lectures, workshops, and specialized discussion panels, developing training programs, and leveraging the expertise of faculty members, researchers, and specialists. It also fosters cooperation between students of both colleges in training and applied projects. Additionally, it entails visits by Granada College students to KCST laboratories to observe assistive technology and Internet of Things (IoT) projects developed by KCST students, and to provide feedback on usability and accessibility.
The agreement stipulates providing professional training opportunities for Granada College students, encouraging their participation in academic and technical activities and initiatives, and granting access to KCST facilities in accordance with its capacities and approved coordination and scheduling rules.
Professor Khaled Al-Baqain stated, “At the Kuwait College of Science and Technology, we believe that the value of technology is not measured solely by its level of advancement, but by its ability to create a real impact on human life. From this perspective, our partnership with Granada College for People with Disabilities opens the door to practical collaboration that combines academic knowledge with real-world needs, giving our students the opportunity to apply what they learn in developing technological solutions that address real challenges and serve students with disabilities. We look forward to this cooperation becoming a model of integration between education, technology, and community service, yielding tangible projects and initiatives that leave a sustainable impact.”
For her part, Maryam Al-Bahr, Director of Granada College for People with Disabilities, said, “The Kuwait College of Science and Technology and Granada College share a firm commitment to education and social responsibility, and this partnership embodies these values in practice. Through our cooperation, we will work to provide genuine opportunities for young people with disabilities, highlighting their abilities and potential beyond their disabilities, thereby contributing to building a more accepting, inclusive, and cohesive society.”
This cooperation reflects both parties’ commitment to leveraging knowledge and modern technologies to support students with disabilities and enhance their opportunities for training and practical application.
