The General Customs Authority stated that, as part of its efforts to combat drug smuggling, customs inspectors at Kuwait International Airport apprehended a female traveler arriving from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, after she was suspected and subjected to inspection procedures in Terminal 4. The Customs Authority clarified in a press release that the inspection yielded 564 bags containing marijuana, packaged and prepared for sale, with a total weight of 1.763 kilograms. It was revealed that the traveler is a Beninese national working as a domestic helper. The General Customs Authority further added that in a separate seizure in Terminal 5, inspectors apprehended an Indian national and found in his possession seven envelopes containing a powder suspected to be heroin, weighing a total of two grams, along with an 8-gram piece of hashish. The statement concluded that the necessary legal procedures had been initiated, seizure reports were drawn up, and the travelers and confiscated items were being prepared for referral to the General Administration for the Suppression of Drugs and Alcohol.
