The Ministry of Interior announced that, as part of ongoing security efforts to combat the theft and illegal sale of subsidized food supplies, the Criminal Security Sector, represented by the Al-Jahra Governorate Criminal Investigation Department (Saud Al-Abdullah Investigation Office), arrested three suspects, one of whom was residing illegally and two of Egyptian nationality, for their involvement in manipulating the weights of subsidized food items and selling them in the Al-Waha area.
In a press statement, the Ministry explained that the arrests followed intelligence indicating that the first suspect was possessing and selling subsidized food supplies despite not being eligible for them. He was apprehended in his warehouse in the Al-Waha area, where quantities of these supplies were found in his possession. Upon interrogation, he admitted to purchasing the items for cash from the other two suspects, who worked at the local food supply branch, and stated that his dealings with them had been ongoing for approximately two years.
The statement added that, following this information, a carefully planned sting operation was carried out, resulting in the arrest of the other two suspects: the head of the food supply branch and the manager of its warehouse. Upon questioning, they confessed to fraudulently reducing the actual weights of food supplies distributed to beneficiaries and selling the deducted quantities to the first suspect.
The Ministry of Interior also clarified that an examination of surveillance camera footage from the food supply branch confirmed the statements made by the first suspect. Legal procedures have been initiated against the suspects.
