The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom’s strong condemnation and outrage over the continued terrorist attacks carried out by the Iran-backed Houthi militia against the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the latest of which targeted the Taybah electricity distribution station in Medina, which supplies power to the Holy Prophet’s Mosque.
According to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), the Ministry deemed this attack a blatant violation of the rules of international law, international humanitarian law, the UN Charter, and the Charter of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as a flagrant breach of religious values and moral norms. It constitutes a serious escalation in the context of repeated targeting of the Two Holy Mosques and Islamic sanctuaries, and an affront to the sentiments of Muslims worldwide.
The Ministry affirmed Bahrain’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its steadfast support for all measures the Kingdom takes to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and stability, and to protect its citizens and residents on its territory, based on its inherent right to self-defense guaranteed under Article 51 of the UN Charter. It emphasized that the security and stability of Saudi Arabia are an integral part of Bahrain’s national security, noting the Kingdom’s entrenched religious status in the hearts of the Arab and Islamic worlds as the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed Bahrain’s call upon the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities and adopt a firm stance to halt the repeated Houthi terrorist attacks targeting civilian infrastructure and religious sanctuaries, which terrorize the guests of Allah, pilgrims visiting the Two Holy Mosques, and innocent civilians in Saudi Arabia, and to hold their perpetrators accountable. It also called on the Council to ensure full implementation of its relevant resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216 (2015) and Resolution 2817 (2026), which demand an end to support for proxies, thereby contributing to the preservation of regional and international peace and security.
