US President Donald Trump renewed his threat to bomb Iran unless a satisfactory deal is reached.
Trump said in an interview with Time magazine: “It is possible we will return to intensively bombing Iran after the midterm elections if we do not reach an agreement that satisfies us.” He considered that “Iran’s latest ceasefire proposal was not good enough,” noting that the Iranians “presented an offer regarding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz; I have seen some aspects of it, but not all of it, and it is simply not sufficient.” He added, “What I rejected a year ago, I will not accept today.” He continued, “I don’t think we will ever achieve peace under Iran’s current behavior.”
He further stated, “We closed the Strait of Hormuz to Iran while we control it, and last night we transported the largest volume of oil through the Strait of Hormuz—more than at any other time.”
On another note, the Republican president pledged to “return the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to its previous levels soon,” emphasizing: “We have plenty of weapons and are in an excellent position; we are currently storing large quantities and holding them, and we will distribute them to our allies.”
