US Defense Secretary Announces 20% Reduction in Army Generals

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced yesterday a 20% reduction in the number of generals and admirals in the military, a step he said aims to “enhance accountability.” Speaking to military personnel at Quantico Base, Hegseth said, “Experts in the numbers tell us that we have discharged 10% of generals and admirals across the various branches of the armed forces,” adding, “We have also reduced the total number of positions designated for officers at the general rank by an additional 10%,” clarifying that the overall reduction amounted to 20%.
