Has a Stranger Accessed Your ChatGPT Account? New Security Feature Detects Suspicious Sessions

Users may not immediately notice if someone else has accessed their ChatGPT account, but reviewing connected devices and active sessions has become a direct way to detect unauthorized logins and take immediate action to secure the account.

Users can navigate to ChatGPT settings, go to the Security section, and review active sessions, which display information about devices, applications, approximate location, and login time—a feature confirmed by OpenAI’s official documentation.

If a user identifies an unfamiliar session, they can log out of active sessions or all devices. Note that terminating all sessions may take up to 30 minutes to complete.

OpenAI also recommends enabling multi-factor authentication to strengthen account security, while cautioning that enabling it alone does not automatically log users out of other devices.
