Egypt and Qatar Foreign Ministers Discuss Developments in the Iran Crisis via Phone

Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Dr. Badr Abdel Ati held a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, to discuss developments in the crisis with Iran and the recent escalation in the region.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement on Wednesday that Dr. Abdel Ati emphasized during the call the importance of coordinating efforts and unifying actions to de-escalate tensions, prevent the conflict from widening, and encourage support for political and diplomatic tracks to resolve the current crisis, thereby contributing to the enhancement of regional security and stability.

Dr. Abdel Ati outlined Egypt’s stance on these crises, including developments in Yemen, Iran, and the Red Sea region, stressing the necessity of safeguarding freedom of maritime navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and rejecting the use of straits and waterways as tools for pressure or bargaining in these crises.
