Nagoya – The Kuwaiti shooting team delivered a remarkable performance in the trap events at the 20th Asian Games held in Aichi-Nagoya 2026, securing both team and individual gold medals for the men’s squad, while the women’s team claimed two bronze medals in the team and individual events. This haul brings Kuwait’s total medal count at the Games to nine: four gold, one silver, and four bronze.
The men’s team capped their efforts with gold in the trap team competition, thanks to the solid performance of Khalid Al-Mudhaf, Talal Al-Rashidi, and Abdulrahman Al-Faihan, who scored 355 targets against Asia’s elite shooters. In the individual event, Khalid Al-Mudhaf shone to claim gold with 26 targets, demonstrating precision and consistency, particularly in the decisive final targets, thereby securing both individual and team golds at the same Games.
The women’s trio of Hajar Abdulmalik, Sara Al-Hawal, and Shahd Al-Hawal earned bronze in the team trap event with a total of 325 targets. Hajar Abdulmalik also added a women’s individual bronze by hitting 21 targets, an achievement that underscores the progress of Kuwaiti women’s shooting at the continental level.
This medal marks a historic milestone for Hajar Abdulmalik, as she became the first Kuwaiti woman to win a medal in the women’s individual trap event in the history of the Asian Games. The same applies to the women’s team trap medalists: Hajar Abdulmalik, Sara Al-Hawal, and Shahd Al-Hawal.
This success is the result of the strong support for Kuwaiti sports, the continuous efforts of the technical and administrative staff, the Kuwait Shooting Federation, and the Kuwait Olympic Committee, alongside the fighting spirit displayed by the shooters to reach the podium. Shooting has long been one of the sports that have brought Kuwait numerous Olympic and continental medals over the decades. These latest results further strengthen Kuwait’s standing among Asia’s top teams in trap competitions.
