AbdulKarim Al-Abdullah: The Assistant Undersecretary for Foreign Health Services Affairs at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Hisham Kalander, confirmed that the ministry continues to invest in human resources and develop employees’ skills, alongside its shift toward digital transformation and leveraging modern technologies to enhance the health care system. Speaking on the occasion of launching the “Power BI” course for the Foreign Health Services sector in collaboration with the Digital Health sector, Kalander said the three-day course aims to develop participants’ capabilities and skills, enabling them to utilize data and figures and convert them into actionable information to support health decision-making, understand daily practices, and plan for the future.

He explained that the course includes a series of lectures and practical applications that lay the foundations for creating dashboards and visual data platforms, allowing for clearer interpretation of indicators, review of practices, exploration of improvement opportunities, and initiation of corrective actions, ultimately strengthening the concept of continuous improvement and enhancing service quality.

Kalander noted that the course includes representatives from entities under the Foreign Health Services sector, including the Health Insurance and Guarantees Administration, the Foreign Treatment Administration, the Office of Organizations and Agreements, the Virtual Health Office, and the International Health Relations Administration.

He added that the course outcomes will particularly impact the Foreign Health Services sector’s projects, such as foreign treatment, health insurance and guarantees, and international health agreements and relations, by employing data and indicators to evaluate performance, develop operational mechanisms, and make evidence-based decisions.

He further stated that this course marks the first in a series of workshops and training programs aimed at refining employees’ skills, expressing hope that they will continue in the coming period and that the acquired skills will directly translate into daily practice and the quality of health services provided to both citizens and residents.

Kalander concluded by emphasizing that the ministry hopes these courses will constitute a sustainable, practical addition to the health system, and that their outcomes will contribute to improving service quality and enhancing institutional performance within the Ministry of Health.
