Interior Ministry: Enhancing Kuwaiti-Turkish Security Cooperation and Coordination

As part of his visit to the friendly Republic of Turkey, Deputy Minister of Interior Major General Abdulwahab Al-Wahid and his accompanying delegation met with Turkish Deputy Minister of Interior Kubra Guran Yigitbasi, in the presence of Kuwait’s Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey, Marzouq Al-Shobokhi. The meeting focused on ways to enhance security cooperation and coordination between the two friendly countries.

A statement from the Ministry of Interior said that Major General Al-Wahid conveyed, at the outset of the meeting, greetings and appreciation from First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousif to the Turkish Deputy Minister, emphasizing the First Deputy Prime Minister’s commitment to developing areas of joint work and exchanging expertise between the security agencies of the two countries, reflecting the deep, distinguished relations between the State of Kuwait and the friendly Republic of Turkey.

The statement added that the meeting addressed several security issues of mutual interest, foremost among them combating organized crime, drug trafficking, and smuggling, as well as strengthening information-sharing mechanisms and coordination among relevant authorities, particularly in confronting cross-border crimes. It also highlighted the importance of leveraging modern technologies and best security practices to enhance operational efficiency and security readiness.

During the visit, the Deputy Minister of Interior and his delegation toured the operations room, where they reviewed the workflow, modern systems, and technologies used in managing and monitoring security operations. They also received a briefing on coordination, response mechanisms, and procedures for handling reports and incidents.

Major General Al-Wahid stressed that the visit reflects the directives of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, underscoring his commitment to expanding the scope of security partnerships with friendly countries and developing joint work mechanisms to address security challenges and consolidate the foundations of security and stability.

For her part, Turkish Deputy Minister of Interior Kubra Guran Yigitbasi emphasized the importance of continuing joint work and exchanging expertise between the two sides, in service of shared interests and to enhance the security and stability of the two friendly countries.
