Finance Minister Meets Senior Officials to Discuss Enhancing Financial, Economic, and Development Cooperation

Finance Minister Dr. Yaqoub Al-Rafai met with Zou Jiayi, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), during which the two sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and explored opportunities to further strengthen cooperation between the AIIB and the State of Kuwait. They also discussed prospects for collaboration in the coming phase, focusing on building and developing national capacities, enhancing Kuwaiti expertise, and leveraging the Bank’s experience and programs in knowledge and expertise transfer to achieve the priorities of both parties.
Minister Al-Rafai also met with Qatari Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, where they exchanged views on several topics and fiscal policies, particularly in light of recent economic developments.
Additionally, Minister Al-Rafai met with Zhang Junhong, Assistant Minister of Finance and Governor of the People’s Republic of China at the AIIB. During this meeting, they discussed ways to enhance financial and economic cooperation between the State of Kuwait and the People’s Republic of China, exchanged views on areas of mutual interest, and shared perspectives on cooperation opportunities within the framework of the strategic and close relations between the two friendly countries, including cooperation within the context of multilateral development banks.
In the context of bilateral meetings, Minister Al-Rafai met with Abdullah Suleiman Al Sheikh Sidiya, Minister of Economic and Development Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. They emphasized the deep and distinguished bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, discussed several matters of mutual interest, particularly investment and development issues, and reviewed action plans for the coming phase in line with the shared interests of both parties.
Minister Al-Rafai also met with Hassan Zureer, Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises of the Republic of Maldives. The meeting addressed the developmental ties between the two countries, ways to enhance cooperation and support in priority areas in the coming phase, coordination of positions in international financial institutions, and exploring mutual support between the two friendly nations.
These meetings took place on the sidelines of Kuwait’s participation in the 11th Annual Meeting of the AIIB Board of Governors, held in Doha, Qatar.
