Saudi and US Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional and International Developments

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah met in Washington, D.C., with his U.S. counterpart, Marco Rubio, to review the strategic relationship between the two countries and ways to enhance and develop it across various fields, in a manner that serves the shared interests of the two friendly nations. According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the two sides discussed the most prominent developments on the regional and international fronts, foremost among them the security and political developments in the region and the situation in Yemen, as well as the efforts undertaken regarding it. The meeting addressed the importance of safeguarding the security of navigation and freedom of transit in international waterways, particularly the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab al-Mandab, which contributes to regional stability and the continuous flow of global trade and supply chains. Both sides also emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and consultation between the Kingdom and the United States on issues of mutual interest, and supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving regional crises and enhancing security, peace, and stability.
