EU Reaffirms Support for Lebanese Armed Forces

EU Ambassador Sandra van der Wal assured Army Commander Major General Rudolf Heikel of the European Union’s continued support for the military institution, praising the army’s role in ensuring security and stability in Lebanon. For his part, Heikel, during his meeting with van der Wal at his office in Yarze, east of Beirut, appreciated the EU’s multiple initiatives to support the army, particularly during the current phase. The discussion also covered developments and recent events in Lebanon and the region, as well as the post-UNIFIL phase.
