The Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Talent and Creativity, one of the centers under the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, in collaboration with CODED Academy, concluded the program “AI from Idea to Application – AI for Programming,” which involved 30 Kuwaiti youth and lasted for three weeks of intensive training in programming, artificial intelligence, and digital technologies.

In a press statement, the Center said the closing ceremony featured presentations of the projects developed by participants during the program, which focused on leveraging artificial intelligence and programming technologies to develop digital solutions addressing various daily challenges and needs. The event also included honoring participants and announcing the winning projects in the final stage.

The Center added that the program equipped participants with practical skills in programming and app development, alongside the use of artificial intelligence, generative AI, data analytics, cybersecurity, and automation tools, enabling them to transition from the idea development stage to building practical digital projects and applications.

It clarified that during the final stage, participants refined their ideas and transformed them into technical projects before presenting them to a panel comprising representatives from the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Talent and Creativity and sector experts. The top ten projects were selected to participate in the Demo Day event.

The competition results saw the team “Nema” take first place, comprising Hussein Al-Wazzan, Hussein Saad, Othman Jamal, and Mubarak Al-Safran. The “Nema” project is a digital platform aimed at transforming traditional refrigerators into smart systems that help monitor food products and their expiration dates. The platform allows users to register products by scanning barcodes, displaying them in the system, and specifying or estimating expiration dates when specific dates are unavailable.

The Center explained that the project includes a system that alerts users when product expiration dates are approaching, suggests recipes to utilize food before it spoils, offers a feature to donate products no longer needed by the user, and incorporates a gamified points system to encourage food utilization and reduce waste.

The Center noted that the team “Jar’a” came in second place, consisting of Ali Al-Bushra, Hamad Al-Masri, Wadha Al-Falah, and Mohammed Al-Jarri. The “Jar’a” project presents a digital system for managing medications, recording doses, and tracking them, leveraging artificial intelligence through intelligent agents to help organize dosage plans, analyze medication-related information, and alert users to potential drug interactions, aiming to reduce human error and improve medication monitoring.

It was reported that the team “KuwaitSat-1 Mission Hub” secured third place, comprising Hind Al-Fadli, Dana Al-Ansari, Mariam Madouh, and Rutayj Al-Kandari. Their project involves developing a website aimed at supporting scientific research by utilizing visual data provided by the KuwaitSat-1 satellite, enabling the use of data to support scientific studies and research, and developing data-driven applications.

He stated that the program provided participants with the opportunity to obtain four international certifications in artificial intelligence, generative AI, cybersecurity, and security and compliance from global technology entities, including Anthropic, Google Cloud, Microsoft, and Cisco, with exam fees and certification vouchers covered as part of the program.

The Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Talent and Creativity clarified that the top three teams received free training slots in one of the general training camps offered by CODED Academy, in recognition of their projects and outputs during the program.

It pointed out that organizing the “AI from Idea to Application” program aligns with the Center’s efforts to support Kuwaiti talents, enhance youth capabilities in scientific and technological fields, and provide practical training programs that help them acquire modern skills and apply them in developing technical solutions and projects.
