Sisi attends the opening of the Egypt Mining Forum: Committed to ensuring the success of investments in all sectors

Cairo – Khadija Hamouda: President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi yesterday inaugurated the Egypt Mining Forum in the New Capital. Upon his arrival at the forum venue, he was welcomed by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi.

Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, stated that a commemorative photograph was taken with President al-Sisi and forum participants, including government representatives, heads of international organizations, and executives of major foreign companies operating in the mining sector. The President then toured a selection of exhibits presented by the Geological Museum, prior to the launch of the opening ceremonies.

The opening program featured a film titled “Egypt: From the Gold of the Past to the Future of Mining,” followed by remarks by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi, and a speech by Alberto Calderon, Chief Executive Officer of AngloGold Ashanti. A documentary on the Sukari Mine was also screened. The program further included speeches by Doug Horak, CEO of the Australia-Africa Minerals and Energy Group, and Rohit Daswani, President and CEO of the International Council on Mining and Metals. These were followed by a presentation of the film “Open Blocks,” and a speech by Namrata Thapar, Global Head of Metals and Minerals at the World Bank Group. This was succeeded by live broadcasts from several mining sites across the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The spokesperson noted that President al-Sisi welcomed attendees at the fifth edition of the Egypt Mining Forum, reaffirming the Egyptian state’s commitment to ensuring the success of investments by companies and businessmen, whether in mining or any other sector.

The spokesperson added that the President subsequently toured the Egypt Mining Exhibition, where he cut the ribbon to officially open the exhibition. He then visited the pavilions of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, as well as those of Capital Drilling, Swedelectric, and AngloGold Ashanti.
