Foreign Minister: Egyptians Abroad Are a Key Partner in Supporting National Development Efforts and Enhancing Egypt’s Interests Abroad

Cairo – Khadija Hamouda Dr. Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, emphasized during his meeting with members of the Egyptian community in New York that Egyptians abroad serve as a vital bridge connecting Egypt with the various societies in which they reside, and as key partners in supporting national development efforts and advancing Egypt’s interests overseas. The meeting was held in line with the continuous and direct engagement with Egyptian citizens living abroad.

Ambassador Nader Zaki, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Abdel Ati expressed deep appreciation during his address for the active role played by Egyptians abroad in strengthening ties between Egypt and the United States, and for their contributions to showcasing Egypt and enhancing its image within American society. He affirmed the state’s commitment to supporting Egyptian expatriates, recognizing them as an integral part of Egypt’s soft power and its distinguished international reputation.

The minister outlined the Egyptian government’s efforts to care for Egyptians abroad and improve the services provided to them, highlighting the ongoing modernization of consular services through digital transformation, simplification of procedures, and enhanced cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and various state institutions to meet the needs and aspirations of Egyptians abroad. He also pointed to several initiatives aimed at Egyptians abroad, as well as efforts to facilitate their access to investment opportunities in Egypt and to leverage their international expertise in support of national development.

Ambassador Zaki noted that Minister Abdel Ati praised the success of the seventh edition of the Egyptians Abroad Conference, held in Cairo in August 2026, and the practical recommendations that emerged from it, which reflect the ongoing partnership between the state and its citizens abroad.

The official spokesperson clarified that the meeting featured an open dialogue between the minister and members of the community, during which he listened to their views, inquiries, and proposals on various issues affecting the interests of Egyptians abroad. The minister reaffirmed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ commitment to maintaining continuous communication with them and working to address their demands in coordination with various state agencies and institutions.
