Boxing Association Launches Season with Junior Championship

The Boxing Federation launched its new 2026-2027 season yesterday with the opening of the first Junior Championship at the Federation’s hall in Sabah Al-Salem, with competitions running until next Wednesday. The tournament, featuring participation from young players in junior age categories, marks the first stop of the Federation’s new season. The championship holds special significance as an event dedicated to discovering promising talent in the sport, giving young players the opportunity to compete, gain experience, and develop essential skills at the early stages of their athletic careers.

On his part, Abdullah Al-Otaibi, President of the Boxing Federation, affirmed that the management is working to expand the base of participants in the sport, with a focus on youth categories as the fundamental pillar for building national teams in the future, alongside providing players with regular opportunities to compete in local tournaments. He added: “The holding of the championship is part of the Federation’s plan for the new season, aiming to strengthen boxing’s presence across all age groups and contribute to identifying new talents who can be developed and prepared to represent the country in upcoming competitions.”
