Al-Shahid Park Opens Its Third Phase to the Public with a Grand Carnival in Early October

Nada Al-Ahmad: Opening Carnival Brings Together Culture, Arts, Entertainment, and Sports

Nada Abunaser: The Martyrs’ Park has announced its preparations to open its third phase to the public on October 1 of next year.

During a press conference held yesterday at the Round Hall of the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center, the park clarified that the opening will feature a celebratory carnival embodying values of peace, harmony, and hope. It noted that throughout the celebration days, the park’s areas will transform into a vibrant space celebrating the future through a complete and aesthetic visual spectacle.

In this regard, Anwar Al-Yatama, representing the Amiri Diwan and serving as the head of the Supervision, Management, and Follow-up Committee for the park’s third phase, stated during the press conference that the Martyrs’ Park is a national project representing a qualitative addition to the cultural and entertainment landscape of Kuwait. It reflects the state’s commitment to providing comprehensive destinations that serve the community and align with its aspirations.

She explained that the third phase completes the achievements of the first and second phases, offering a renewed vision and distinctive components that integrate culture, art, entertainment, and sports within a modern and sustainable environment. This enhances the park’s status as one of Kuwait’s premier destinations and provides a comprehensive experience for all family members.

Al-Yatama added, “Coinciding with the opening, a celebratory carnival will be organized on October 1 and 2 next year. It will feature a range of events and activities designed to offer a distinctive occasion for the public to celebrate this national achievement and provide everyone with the opportunity to explore the new facilities and experiences included in the third phase.”

She commended the support of Capital Governor Sheikh Abdullah Salem Al-Ali for this occasion and extended her gratitude to Kuwait Finance House, Al-Shaya Group, Ooredoo Kuwait, and Bateel Al-Yousif for their sponsorship and support of the opening and the accompanying carnival. She emphasized that this sponsorship exemplifies the importance of effective partnership between state institutions and the private sector in supporting national projects and initiatives.

She concluded, “We look forward to the third phase of the Martyrs’ Park serving as an extension of the successes achieved in previous phases and a new launch toward more events and activities that meet societal aspirations and strengthen Kuwait’s presence as an attractive destination for culture and entertainment.”

For his part, Vice Chairman of the Committee Khaled Al-Filakawi, in a similar statement, praised the efforts of sponsors and supporters, as well as everyone who contributed to the success of this occasion. He noted that these sponsorships reflect a distinctive model of partnership and cooperation, underscoring the private sector’s commitment to fulfilling its social role and contributing to supporting national, cultural, and entertainment projects and events in Kuwait.

Al-Filakawi stressed the importance of continuing and developing this partnership in the future to contribute to delivering distinctive events and initiatives that serve the community and enrich the cultural and entertainment landscape in Kuwait.

On his part, Yusuf Al-Ruwaih, Representative of Kuwait Finance House and Head of Public Relations and Media for the Group, affirmed the bank’s commitment to building and strengthening this type of strategic partnership with important state entities, including the Martyrs’ Park in its third phase.

Al-Ruwaih stated, “We are pleased to support this distinguished project, which represents an extension of Kuwait’s role in supporting national community initiatives. This stems from our belief in the importance of social responsibility and the leadership role played by Kuwait Finance House in this field.”

He added that Kuwait Finance House “firmly believes that these projects are among the most important national initiatives that will, God willing, have a positive impact on society. He highlighted that Kuwait Finance House has a rich track record in supporting this type of initiative, particularly national and community projects. He expressed pride in this partnership and anticipation for continuing support for such projects that contribute to activating economic and tourism movements and supporting growth, thereby contributing to achieving sustainable development in Kuwait. Al-Arfaj pointed out that these events have positive effects on society, as well as on visitors and park patrons, by contributing to providing diverse and distinctive experiences. He added that Ooredoo’s geographical proximity to the third phase of the Martyrs’ Park represents an extension of joint activities, where there will be special theater events, others related to sports, alongside initiatives focused on greater community development and joint seminars with the Amiri Diwan.

Nada Al-Ahmad, a member of the Supervision Committee, outlined the main features of the carnival during her speech at the press conference. She explained that it aims to revive all the park’s diverse and unique facilities and introduce them through a comprehensive program spanning two days, combining culture, arts, entertainment, and sports.

Al-Ahmad highlighted the key features of the carnival, including: light shows illuminating and enlivening the Dome of the Sur Theater; entertainment shows for children and families enlivening outdoor theaters and various open spaces; Kuwaiti heritage performances reflecting the national heritage and cultural identity of Kuwait; a celebratory parade touring various parts of the park to create a distinctive festive atmosphere; artistic works and creative installations; and light shows that enhance the visitor experience and enrich the carnival ambiance.

She also pointed out dynamic and sports activities involving local athletes in parkour and skateboarding areas, adding a vibrant touch to the experience, along with diverse activities distributed across all park facilities presented by sponsors and partners to delight visitors of all ages.

She noted that visitors can learn about all events and their locations through the carnival schedule and an interactive map showing the locations of various activities and shows within the park.
