Saudi Foreign Minister at the UN: Protecting International Navigation is a Shared Responsibility

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan called for adherence to the United Nations Charter.

In his address on behalf of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the UN General Assembly, he stated that the Kingdom and countries in the region have been subjected to brazen Iranian aggression, noting that “the security of the Gulf region is linked to energy security and the continuity of supply chains.” He added, “We reject the use of waterways as a tool for coercion,” emphasizing the “need to protect international navigation.” The Saudi Foreign Minister affirmed that any arrangements for regional security must be comprehensive and address the sources of threats, reiterating support for Qatari and Pakistani efforts to de-escalate tensions, and stressing that protecting international navigation is a shared responsibility.
