Al-Yousef: Kuwait is keen to support joint efforts and enhance cooperation among countries to address security challenges, combat crime, and promote security and stability.

The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousif, chaired the Kuwait delegation participating in the fifteenth United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, which launched its proceedings in Abu Dhabi during his official visit to the United Arab Emirates, accompanied by Kuwait’s Ambassador to Abu Dhabi. The delegation included the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, Awatef Al-Sand, the Head of the Financial Intelligence Unit, and the Head of the Criminal Security Affairs Sector, alongside high-level representatives of countries and international organizations, as well as experts and specialists.

In a press statement, the Ministry of Interior said that the Congress addresses a number of security and judicial issues and challenges, foremost among them combating organized crime and terrorism, strengthening criminal justice systems and the rule of law, developing crime prevention strategies, and responsibly leveraging modern technologies, in addition to enhancing international cooperation and partnerships, exchanging expertise, and sharing best practices to build capacities to confront evolving crime patterns and enhance access to justice amid rapid digital transformations.

On the sidelines of the Congress’s launch, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousif, held a meeting with Anas Al-Khatib, Minister of Interior of the Syrian Arab Republic, and his accompanying delegation. He also held another meeting with Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar, Minister of Home Affairs of Malaysia, and his delegation. The meetings discussed ways to enhance security cooperation, exchange expertise, and coordinate in areas of mutual interest.

Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousif emphasized that Kuwait’s participation in the Congress reflects its commitment to active engagement in international forums concerned with security and criminal justice, supporting joint efforts, and strengthening cooperation and coordination among countries to confront security challenges, combat crime, and enhance security and stability.

The First Deputy Prime Minister extended his gratitude and appreciation to the government of the United Arab Emirates, headed by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for hosting the Congress, its excellent organization, and its generous hospitality.
