Pakistani Prime Minister: 'Mecca Agreement' Does Not Target Any Country .. Safety of the Two Holy Mosques Is a Red Line

Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif affirmed that the Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense between Pakistan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Turkey does not target any country, but rather represents a shared commitment to peace in the region, while also condemning the attacks by the Houthi militia on Saudi Arabia. In his address to the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, he stated that the security of the Two Holy Mosques is a red line and that Pakistan stands in full solidarity with Saudi Arabia. He emphasized that the conflict in the Middle East has disrupted maritime routes, and Pakistan has chosen to work toward achieving peace. Sharif added that Pakistan has acted swiftly through coordinated efforts to negotiate an end to the conflict in the Middle East. He stressed that the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab al-Mandab must remain open. The Pakistani Prime Minister called for an end to repeated Israeli attacks on Syria and Lebanon. He also urged the Afghan authorities to ensure that their territory is not used against Pakistan or any other country.
