Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani stated that they had made every effort to steer the diplomatic track back on the right path. In a press statement to CNN, as reported by Al Jazeera, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman added that they had sensed a willingness on the part of both the United States and Iran to make progress in the negotiations. He clarified that they had conducted indirect talks between Tehran and Washington and had achieved progress. The Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister emphasized that using waterways to exert pressure on countries and impose a fait accompli is unacceptable, adding that the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz pressures Iran and exerts pressure on Gulf states. He affirmed that it is not only Iran that is under pressure due to the Strait of Hormuz crisis, but the entire world.
