Sisi reaffirms Egypt's constant commitment to the security and stability of Iraq

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasized Egypt’s commitment to maintaining communication with the institutions of the Iraqi state and all political and national forces, in light of the strong fraternal ties between the two countries.
The President reaffirmed Egypt’s constant concern for the security and stability of its brotherly Iraq, and its support for all measures taken by the Iraqi state to preserve Iraq’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
These remarks came during President El-Sisi’s reception yesterday of Ammar Al-Hakim, head of Iraq’s Al-Hakim Current, in the presence of Hassan Rashad, head of the General Intelligence Service. From the Iraqi side, the meeting was attended by Mohsen Al-Hakim, deputy head of the National Al-Hakim Current; Ahmed Al-Hakim, advisor to the head of the National Al-Hakim Current; Dr. Muhammad Turki Abu-Kallal, responsible for Arab affairs and representative of the head of the National Al-Hakim Current in Egypt; and Qahman Taha Janabi, the Iraqi Ambassador to Cairo.
Mohamed El-Shennawy, the official spokesperson for the Presidency, stated that the President welcomed the head of the Al-Hakim Current, underscoring the historic fraternal relations between Egypt and Iraq and their peoples. He affirmed Egypt’s commitment to engaging with the institutions of the Iraqi state and all political and national forces, given the strong fraternal ties between the two countries.
The President also reaffirmed Egypt’s enduring commitment to the security and stability of brotherly Iraq, and its support for all measures taken by the Iraqi state to safeguard Iraq’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. He highlighted the government’s efforts to combat corruption and consolidate the monopoly on weapons.
Furthermore, the President commended Iraq’s pivotal role in the fight against terrorism and extremist ideologies, and in uprooting their roots. In this regard, he praised the constructive role played by Mr. Ammar Al-Hakim in promoting stability, reducing political disparities, and prioritizing Iraq’s national interests.
The official spokesperson added that Ammar Al-Hakim expressed his deep gratitude for the meeting with the President. He affirmed the pride in the historic relations and fraternal bonds between Egypt and Iraq, and stressed the centrality of Egypt’s role, under the President’s leadership, in enhancing security and stability in the region, including supporting Iraq and its efforts to restore its natural leading position at both the Arab and regional levels. Al-Hakim also expressed his desire to consult with the President on regional developments and to understand His Excellency’s vision for de-escalation and mitigating current geopolitical tensions, as well as insulating Iraq from their negative repercussions.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy noted that the meeting addressed the current regional landscape and its implications for the countries and peoples of the region, particularly Egypt and Iraq. In this context, the President outlined the national vision advocating for prioritizing peaceful solutions to crises and conflicts, supporting legitimate institutions, and upholding the concept of the inclusive national state. The President discussed Egypt’s ongoing efforts to reduce tensions and prevent a new wave of escalation, emphasizing the importance of Iraq continuing to play a constructive role in strengthening the collective security of Arab states and safeguarding the assets of the region’s peoples.
The meeting also addressed developments regarding the Palestinian cause. The President discussed Egypt’s efforts to support the brotherly Palestinian people, including implementing the second phase of the Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement and the U.S. peace plan, as well as facilitating the entry of aid and intensifying humanitarian relief efforts in the Gaza Strip. He underscored Egypt’s steadfast position on the inevitability of establishing a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy, as the comprehensive, fair, and sole solution to the Palestinian issue.
