Foreign Minister: The Palestinian issue no longer needs further diagnosis, but rather the will and implementation
Foreign Minister Sheikh Jara Al-Jaber participated today in the high-level ministerial meeting of the International Coalition for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, organized by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the friendly Kingdom of Norway, and the European Union, at the United Nations headquarters in New York, on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
In his speech, the Foreign Minister emphasized that the Palestinian issue no longer requires further diagnosis, but rather the will and implementation thereof. He noted that international legitimacy resolutions and the New York Declaration have established a clear framework for ending the occupation and realizing an independent State of Palestine, which necessitates translating international will into practical steps.
The Foreign Minister stressed that justice cannot be selective, and that the continuation of the occupation and settlement activities, along with attempts to alter the geographic and demographic reality, undermine the two-state solution and place the credibility of the international system under a genuine test.
He pointed to the necessity of transitioning from managing the conflict to ending it, and realizing an independent, sovereign State of Palestine on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, and supporting the State of Palestine’s attainment of full membership in the United Nations.
He affirmed the importance of implementing Security Council Resolution 2803 and supporting efforts to rebuild the Gaza Strip, thereby paving a reliable path toward self-determination and the establishment of an independent State of Palestine.
The Foreign Minister reiterated the State of Kuwait’s historic and steadfast position regarding the Palestinian issue and its support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among which is their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
