Kuwait University to Host Workshop on Gemini Enterprise in Collaboration with Google Cloud

Kuwait University organized an introductory workshop for faculty members on the use of the Gemini Enterprise platform, in collaboration with Google Cloud. The event was held at the KUIZ Innovation Center, under the Institutional Innovation Department at the Sabah Al-Salem University City, with the participation of faculty members from various university colleges.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Mutawa, Deputy Vice President for Academic Support Services, emphasized in his opening address during the workshop that leveraging artificial intelligence represents a qualitative leap in developing the educational process. He noted that Kuwait University is among the first universities in the Gulf and the region to adopt a policy regulating the use of artificial intelligence, reflecting its commitment to keeping pace with technological advancements and integrating them within clear institutional frameworks.

Al-Mutawa explained that the collaboration with Google Cloud aims to utilize artificial intelligence tools in classrooms. He noted that the project involves 50 faculty members and approximately 2,000 students from Kuwait University, contributing to the development of teaching and learning methods and enhancing the quality of educational outcomes.

For his part, Dr. Mohammed Al-Marzouq, Assistant Deputy Vice President for Academic Support Services for Information Technology, stated that the initiative is a pioneering one in the region and among universities globally. He pointed out that the university is working to make modern technologies available to faculty members and familiarize them with the mechanisms for leveraging artificial intelligence tools and utilizing their capabilities to develop teaching practices and support the educational and research processes.

Al-Marzouq emphasized the importance of leveraging modern technologies to address the challenges facing academic institutions and to enhance the efficiency of educational and research activities, supporting Kuwait University’s orientation toward innovation, development, and keeping pace with the rapid transformations in the higher education sector.

The workshop, attended by Abdul Latif Al-Sanad, Government Sector Director at Google Cloud, featured a visual presentation outlining the key tools and technologies that faculty members can benefit from, along with an overview of the capabilities of the Gemini Enterprise platform and its role in supporting educational and academic tasks and enhancing the integration of artificial intelligence in the university environment.

The workshop, coordinated jointly by the Office of the Assistant Deputy Vice President for Academic Support Services for Information Technology and the Office of the Deputy Vice President for Planning, serves as a continuation of the pilot project for the Gemini Enterprise platform launched by Kuwait University in collaboration with Google Cloud and Deloitte. The project aims to explore the potential of artificial intelligence and integrate it into the university environment, supporting the development of teaching and learning methods in line with the university’s strategic objectives of fostering innovation and enhancing the academic environment.
