Dunnis: The win was important

Saudi Arabia coach Georgios Donis affirmed that the 1-0 victory over the national team in the opening match of Group A at the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup (Gulf Cup) was important. He noted that the team possesses quality and skilled players, and that it created more opportunities during the match, emphasizing the need to continue working and improving ahead of upcoming encounters.

In a post-match press conference, Donis stated that it is essential to address the issue of wasting numerous chances without scoring goals.

He added that while it is positive to continue creating significant opportunities, the team must make the right decisions at the right time within the opponent’s penalty area. He explained that the Saudi national team features a group of high-quality players capable of providing balance to the squad.

Donis further noted that it is not easy to play a new match after only three days, but he expected the team to be fully prepared and for the players to provide the necessary intensity to achieve positive results.

He pointed out that the most important factor is gaining the confidence and composure needed to make the correct decisions, noting that the team currently comprises different generations of experienced players.

Regarding Saudi Arabia’s next match against Oman on Saturday, Donis said: “We have a better and stronger team, and we will try to win the upcoming match.”
