Kuwait's "Blue" side to seek redemption against Iraq tomorrow

Kuwait’s national team, the “Blue,” will face Iraq tomorrow, Saturday, in their second match of the 27th Gulf Cup. The team is seeking to redeem their initial loss to Saudi Arabia, which resulted from an own goal, in Group A. Saudi Arabia currently leads the group with three points. Kuwait has no choice but to win to remain in contention for advancement to the next round. This requires coach Hélio Souza to change his tactical approach and avoid relying repeatedly on defensive play.

Kuwait’s performance against Saudi Arabia can be described as acceptable, particularly in defensive organization. The back four—Rashid Al-Dosari, Muath Al-Zafiri, Yusuf Al-Haqan, and Abdulaziz Bin Naji—displayed strong technical form during the first half, despite some lapses that led to the match’s only goal. The ball struck Al-Haqan’s head and went into the net, marking his sole error of the game. In tomorrow’s match, the “Blue” need to play with the same fighting spirit they showed in the previous game while diversifying their attacking options.
