The General Administration of Customs announced that its inspectors at Terminal 4 of Kuwait International Airport thwarted an attempt to smuggle 1,996 pills of the drug “Rayol,” which is listed in the schedule of psychotropic substances due to its active ingredient, tapentadol. The pills were in the possession of a passenger arriving from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

In a press statement, Customs added that the seizure was made possible by the vigilance of customs inspectors and the precision of inspection procedures. The pills were found in the passenger’s possession, and a seizure report was immediately prepared, followed by the customary customs and legal procedures. The suspect and the seized items were referred to the General Administration for the Suppression of Narcotics and Alcohol.

The General Administration of Customs reaffirmed its ongoing efforts to tighten control over all entry points and to firmly combat attempts to smuggle narcotics and psychotropic substances into the country.
