Public Works: Enhancing cooperation and exchanging technical expertise in roads and infrastructure with Oman
The Ministry of Public Works received a delegation from the Sultanate of Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, led by Engineer Muhammad Tabuk, on the day before yesterday. The visit aimed to enhance cooperation and exchange technical expertise in the fields of roads and infrastructure.
The two sides held a meeting chaired by Engineer Khalid Al-Asimi, Director General of Road Engineering Affairs, in the presence of several department directors and road project engineers from the Ministry of Public Works. The meeting discussed various technical and administrative issues related to the implementation and management of major road projects.
The meeting reviewed key road and infrastructure projects in both Kuwait and the Sultanate of Oman, alongside the exchange of experiences gained from implementing and managing large-scale projects. It also covered work practices adopted in this field, including Kuwait’s experience in executing the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Bridge project.
The two sides also discussed best practices and modern technologies used in the design and implementation of road projects, as well as approved design specifications and standards. Additionally, they examined mechanisms for tendering and awarding projects, contract management, and monitoring implementation phases.
The meeting also addressed experiences related to testing materials used in road projects, quality control methods, and ensuring that works comply with approved specifications and standards, thereby enhancing project quality and improving implementation efficiency.
The visit underscored the importance of exchanging practical experiences and technical expertise between specialists in the two countries, and leveraging accumulated experience in implementing road and infrastructure projects to support the development of work practices and improve project efficiency and quality.
This visit comes within the framework of strengthening technical cooperation between the State of Kuwait and the Sultanate of Oman, and exchanging experiences and expertise in the fields of roads and infrastructure, contributing to the development of the road system and improving the efficiency and quality of projects in accordance with best practices and approved standards.
In a separate development, the Ministry of Public Works, in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, announced the closure of the right-turn slip road on Al-Ghawss Street in the Jaber Al-Ali district for traffic heading from the Seventh Ring Road roundabout to Road 104 between Plot 1 and Plot 7, in preparation for the Al-Ghawss Street project early Friday morning.
The Ministry of Public Works, in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, also announced the closure of Al-Ghawss Street in the Al-Sabahia district for traffic heading from the Fahd Al-Ahmad roundabout to the Al-Sabahia Gas roundabout, with traffic redirected to the opposite direction: one lane for entry and two lanes for exit on Al-Ghawss Street early next Sunday morning.
