Video: 568 counterfeit items seized from shipment arriving from China

The General Customs Authority stated that officers from the Customs Investigation and Intelligence Department in air cargo seized 568 items of footwear and jackets bearing counterfeit brand marks. The items were part of a shipment arriving from China by air, which was declared in its documentation as containing furniture and chairs, with a total weight of 883 kilograms according to the waybills.

In a press release, Customs explained that the seizure followed a detailed inspection and examination of the shipment after it was flagged as suspicious by the Customs Investigation and Intelligence Department. The inspection revealed that the shipment contained counterfeit goods in violation of laws and regulations governing the protection of intellectual property rights and the combating of counterfeit merchandise.

The General Customs Authority added that the standard customs and legal procedures were taken regarding the shipment and the seized items. It affirmed its continued efforts to tighten oversight of incoming shipments and to counter attempts to bring non-compliant and counterfeit goods into the country.
