Al-Sharaa, in his second address to the United Nations: The Golan will remain Syrian land, and all annexation decisions are null and void
Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa announced that “the transitional justice process in Syria has begun,” affirming that “the journey of recovery and rise has started, the country has been unified from north to south, weapons have been consolidated, and the army has been reunified.”
In his second address to the United Nations General Assembly during the second day of the High-Level Week, al-Sharaa stated: “A year ago, I stood on this podium representing my people and my country for the first time in nearly 60 years. I recalled our people’s victory and affirmed that it was a victory for the entire world. Syria is now rising and has been unified.”
He enumerated the achievements of his government, announcing that the wheel of production has returned to more than 3,000 production lines across the country, and that more than 3.5 million displaced persons and refugees have returned.
He said: “We have turned the page on the state that sponsored terrorism,” noting that “the clouds of sanctions have cleared with the repeal of the Caesar Act and the removal of Syria from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.”
He highlighted progress in the fight against drugs, stating: “In our open war against transnational crime networks, our border posts have stood firm. We have seized approximately 700 million Captagon pills in more than 1,500 operations, dismantled 90 international networks, and combated human trafficking and crime.”
He affirmed that Syria has regained its standing among nations, with a growing influx of diplomatic, economic, and commercial engagement, as nearly 100 countries have opened channels of communication with Syria since its liberation.
He said: “We have launched efforts to build bridges of partnership from a solid sovereign foundation. Syria is rising, the country has been unified from north to south, and sanctions have been lifted.”
He added: “We have proven to the entire world that the security of the Middle East is woven in Syria.”
Regarding the occupied Syrian Golan, al-Sharaa stated that it “will remain Syrian land, and all annexation decisions are null and void in accordance with UN resolutions.”
While affirming commitment to “the 1974 agreement and calling for Israel’s withdrawal from our territories,” al-Sharaa expressed rejection of Israel’s persistent attempts to impose a fait accompli in Syria, accusing it of carrying out approximately 500 air and artillery strikes and more than 1,200 incursions.
