Kuwait reaffirms its commitment to enhancing international cooperation in protecting critical civilian digital infrastructure

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Organizations Affairs, Ambassador Sadiq Ma’arfi, reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to continuing its support for the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) and to strengthening international cooperation in safeguarding critical civilian digital infrastructure. This statement was made by Ambassador Ma’arfi on the occasion of his participation in a high-level roundtable organized by the DCO on Monday evening, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, with the participation of several ministers, senior officials, and representatives of international organizations and the private sector.

Ma’arfi highlighted Kuwait’s declaration on Responsible Artificial Intelligence for Global Digital Prosperity, which was adopted during the DCO’s Fifth General Assembly held in Kuwait, emphasizing the importance of moving from the adoption of declarations and principles to their practical implementation.

The meeting addressed ways to protect digital infrastructure and ensure the continuity of essential services in the face of disruptions and cyber risks, as well as enhancing international cooperation, exchanging expertise, and building national capacities. The meeting also witnessed the announcement of Barbados joining the DCO as a member, becoming the first member state from the Western Hemisphere.
