Cairo - Ahmed Sabri: Minister of Transport, Eng. Kamal al-Wazir, stated yesterday that Egyptian-Saudi relations represent a distinguished model of fraternal and strategic ties between the two countries, grounded in historical bonds, a shared destiny, and convergence of visions and positions.
This came during the Minister’s visit yesterday to the Saudi Embassy in Cairo to congratulate Ambassador Saleh bin Eid Al-Husseini, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Egypt, on the occasion of the Kingdom’s National Day, within the framework of the fraternal, historical, and entrenched ties uniting the two nations.
During the meeting, the Minister conveyed congratulations from President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly to His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, His Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the Saudi people on this cherished national occasion, wishing the sister Kingdom continued progress and prosperity, and the continuation of its development and prosperity journey.
He pointed to the recent visit of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Egypt and his meeting with President el-Sisi, which reflected the depth and strength of the fraternal and strategic relations between Egypt and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the full support and patronage they receive from the leaderships of both brotherly countries, based on the firm principle that “Egypt and Saudi Arabia… always together.”
He added that the coming phase requires building on the cooperation achieved between the two countries, opening broader horizons for partnership in economic, investment, and trade fields, and maximizing the use of the potentials and assets available to both sides, thereby contributing to increasing the volume of cooperation and joint projects and enhancing the mutual interests of the two brotherly peoples. He noted that the Supreme Egyptian-Saudi Coordination Council represents an important institutional framework for coordinating efforts and advancing bilateral cooperation to levels that meet the aspirations of both countries.
He emphasized the significant cooperation between the two countries in the transport sector and various logistical corridors, highlighting the importance of the Southern Arab Trade Corridor, which connects Europe and all Gulf Arab countries via Egypt, as well as through integrated international logistical routes up to the port of Safaga and from there to the port of Neom (formerly Dhuba) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia via fleets of Egyptian national companies, and then to other Gulf countries.
He continued that, as part of translating policies into tangible achievements, Egypt has begun implementing eight integrated developmental international logistical corridors that link the ports of the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, and the Suez Canal axis, with dry ports and industrial, agricultural, and mining zones, through a modern and integrated network of railway lines, the high-speed electric train network, and highways. These corridors provide efficient cargo transport routes, contributing to reducing transit time, lowering costs, and enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy. They embody Egypt’s vision of integrated regional and international connectivity, positioning it as a logistical hub for linking with Gulf countries, the Arab Mashreq, and North, East, and Central Africa, reaching European, Asian, and African markets. This enhances the flow of global trade and consolidates Egypt’s status as a regional center for transport, logistics, and transit trade.
For his part, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Arab Republic of Egypt expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to Engineer Kamal al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, for this kind congratulation, affirming that Egyptian-Saudi relations represent a solid model of brotherhood, cooperation, and integration between the two brotherly countries, and receive full support and patronage from His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, His Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, which has contributed to consolidating the strategic partnership between the two countries across various fields.
He emphasized that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia attaches great importance to enhancing cooperation with Egypt, considering it a strategic and pivotal partner, noting that the current phase offers promising opportunities to deepen economic, investment, and trade cooperation, and to leverage the substantial potentials possessed by both countries, thereby serving the interests of both peoples and supporting comprehensive development efforts.
